My story
My father, a frugal eater, used to tell me that there are two kinds of people in the world; “those who eat to live and those who live to eat”. He was the former kind and I belong to that latter category.
Maybe it was those young boys, living in bachelor quarters, in our industrial colony who first made me realize that I have this gift of cooking. My mother, probably without even realizing, taught me the secret of home ground spices. One of the reasons why I never, rarely if ever, use readymade spices from established brands. From feeding the family, to entertaining friends, I had come a long way in feeding authentic Indian food to the central and Eastern Europe clientele.
While cooking was always an integral part of my life and enjoyable, it was the move to Europe that actually challenged me and made me a better cook. I learnt how to operate within constraints, I improvised, learnt to develop fusion foods and finally enlarged my repertoire to include Chicken.
I have been striving to prove just this point to the rest of the world “India is not JUST curry”
